Beautiful, elegant cutlery adds a magical touch to any occasion. These vintage engraved tongs have a scissor-like action. They can be used for serving pastries, cake pieces, sandwiches, you name it!
They are six inches long.
The two tongs have a delightful floral design woven through the decorative perforations. The handles also have intricate detailed scrollwork in them.
The inside of one tong reads ALP while the inside of the other reads Sweden.
The abbreviation ALP stands for Alpacca / Alpaca Silver. This is another term for “nickel silver” or “German silver”.
These were owned by my grandparents, George F. Waller and Jane Warren Waller.

Did you know that people would polish their entire silver sets every three months to keep it shiny and fresh looking? I suppose they didn’t have TVs back then! It takes a LONG LONG time to polish even one piece to a nice luster.
There was an identical set of these scissor serving tongs listed on Ebay for $125. That listing is now gone.
These were with Lisa Shea. I believe they are now with Jennifer Mottram.
